"Two common sense bills I sponsored have passed the House. HB 186 will provide meaningful relief for grieving families, while HB 163 empowers Georgians to make informed choices about what’s on their plate."

Representative Jordan Ridley

Mid-March is a pivotal and active time for Georgia’s legislature, and I’m pleased to share that two bills I sponsored have passed the House this session. The "ayes" have it.

"AYE" TO EASING THE TAX BURDEN FOR GRIEVING GEORGIA FAMILIES

It's an honor to share that the House unanimously passed HB 186, legislation I sponsored to eliminate the title ad valorem tax fee for certain inherited vehicles. This commonsense bill will help ease the financial strain on grieving families, ensuring they aren’t burdened with unnecessary costs during an already difficult time.

HB 186 will provide meaningful relief for Georgia families and I'm grateful to my colleagues in the House for your bipartisan support.

"AYE" TO PROMOTING TRANSPARENCY IN FOOD LABELING

The House also passed
HB 163, legislation I sponsored to increase transparency by requiring food establishments to clearly disclose if their products contain cell-cultured meat or plant-based alternatives. With the growing presence of artificial and plant-based meats, this bill ensures that consumers have the information they need to make informed choices about what is served when enjoying a meal out with friends and family.

These bills now move to the Georgia Senate for further consideration.

OTHER BILLS THAT GOT AN "AYE" IN THE HOUSE

SAFEGUARDING THE FUTURE FOR GEORGIA FAMILIES

It's encouraging to share that I the full house (172-0) in voting YES to protect IVF in Georgia because I believe every Georgian should have the opportunity to build the family they’ve always wanted. Protecting access to in vitro fertilization ensures that more families can thrive and grow right here in our great state.
HB 428 is now being considered by the Senate.

PROTECTING FAIRNESS AND OPPORTUNITY IN SPORTS

I voted to protect women in women’s sports because it’s essential to preserve the spaces where females can compete fairly and safely. Every girl deserves the chance to compete at the highest level and earn the rewards of her hard work, both on the field and in the classroom. HB 267 – The Riley Gaines Act, is now being considered by the Senate.

As your representative, I'm here to listen to your ideas, concerns, and suggestions. Your input helps me better serve our community and make informed decisions at the Capitol. Please don’t hesitate to reach out — I value your feedback and am committed to representing your voice.
