About the 'Justice for Peanut and Fred Act'

January 23, 20251 min read

"The goal of the bill is to protect responsible and law-abiding pet owners from unfair and hasty decisions and prevent what happened to Peanut and Fred from happening in Georgia."
- Representative Jordan Ridley

This week I introduced Legislation to protect Georgian's pets and livestock, specifically to update the state’s pet euthanization and impound policies. Inspired by two animals, Peanut the Squirrel and Fred the Raccoon, who were put down for rabies testing after being seized in New York by authorities in 2024.

The proposed "Justice for Peanut and Fred Act," seeks to ensure that Georgia’s pet owners and their pets are protected from such blatant government overreach. This bill aims to prevent hasty and unfair decisions by authorities, ensuring that animals are treated fairly and responsibly.

I remain fully committed to legislative excellence and to growing my influence in shaping Georgia’s policies. Comments, ideas, and suggestions are always welcome. Contact me here.
